Stocks ended slightly higher in a third session marked by late-day swings, but the Nasdaq fell after NetApp gave a weak revenue forecast, casting doubt on the outlook for tech spending.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 33.60 points, or 0.27%, at 12,529.75. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index was up 1.82 points, or 0.14%, at 1,320.68. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 10.74 points, or 0.38%, at 2,839.38.

U.S. stocks ended their first positive week in four with a down day on Friday as investors were reluctant to buy going into a long weekend, with uncertainty still swirling around Europe.

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI fell 74.92 points, or 0.60 percent, to 12,454.83 at the close. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index .SPX dipped 2.86 points, or 0.22 percent, to 1,317.82. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC was down 1.85 points, or 0.07 percent, at 2,837.53.

U.S. stocks rose on Tuesday as signs Greece would stay in the euro zone were enough to spark buying in what has been a weak month for equities, while Facebook plumbed new lows on high volume.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 125.86 points, or 1.01 percent, to 12,580.69. The S&P 500 Index added 14.60 points, or 1.11 percent, to 1,332.42. The Nasdaq Composite gained 33.46 points, or 1.18 percent, to 2,870.99.
